This is my finished version of the Jalie Yoko Square Roll-Neck Top — a free pattern! Merci, Jalie! (If you read my last blog post and couldn’t click through to the pattern, the link is definitely working now.)
I modified mine by adding 5 inches to the length so I could wear it with leggings and have my butt covered.
Another modification: I made the turtleneck as a separate piece, and attached a collar band to the sweater. When I wear them together it looks like one piece. You should have seen me trying to figure out how to sew a self-contained tube! That took some unexpected mental gymnastics and many unpicked seams to figure out, but me and my pea-brain managed in the end.
I used a blush-pink wool-blend sweater knit I bought in the LA fabric district when I visited there with my podcasting partner Helena. (BTW, we just released a new episode of the Clothes Making Mavens podcast. We chatted with Alex of Sewrendipity, who is AWESOME, so be sure to go have a listen.)
This came together really fast with my serger, and the boxy fit means you’ll likely have few if any fitting modifications to do.
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season so far. And thanks for stopping by!
